Our story
Dreams, hopes, work and new goals
The vineyard was planted in 2010, but our family story begins way back in 1951. Grandfather Miškan moved with his family from a small town in Herzegovina to this estate. Once upon a time, this was a commune where many families found their home. The home remained, the vineyards were re-planted, and the family together again.
Tradition gives our vineyards its roots, and the innovations we introduce each year provide space for our vineyards to grow. Vineyards are made from quality international varieties: Chardonnay, Moscato Bianco, Moscato Giallo, Aleatico, Moscato Rosa, Pinot Noir, Marcelan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Arinarnoa, but our idea is to plant an indigenous variety Julski Muskat (Djendješ) in order to be able to combine the best of traditional and international flavors.
We have a vision that the winery should restore authentic splendor not only to the vineyards and wines, but also to the hospitality of Srem, so that the tradition, which dates back to the 15th century, is preserved in a new framework. Particularly significant in this respect is the period from the mid-17th to the 19th century, when the šajkaši (the river flotilla troops who guarded the Danube and Sava, composed of ethnic Serbs with special military status) with noble privileges played a significant role in this region in the development of viticulture. They protected the area of Eastern Srem from the river, from the forest and from the defensive fort.
They engaged in viticulture and wine making and hunted numerous wild animals in the area – where a hawk was used in the prestigious horse-hunting. The restoration of these values has been a backbone in the establishment of the concept of the Sokolov Zamak wine hotel, restaurant, winery and distillery since the very beginning.
In order to achieve this vision, in addition to the existing wine processing and storage facility we are building a wine house with accommodation facilities in the Beška settlement, within our vineyards. In this unique setting, in addition to wines and local products from our offer, guests will also be offered accommodation services adapted to their individual needs, and the wine house shall be a haven in the heart of our vineyard.
On a clear day the view reaches Novi Sad and Belgrade, and the Danube flows by the vineyard every day. We want to have a rounded production at this place, where you will be able to taste products originating from this area, and enjoy the view and the peace. Today, our vineyard has about 350,000 planted grapevines on a total area of about 70ha.

SOKOLOV ZAMAK is a family winery situated on the Southern slopes of Fruška Gora in Beška. Our vineyards, area of about 70 acres, are the sunniest in the morning, which gives them a special aroma, full flavor and a glimmer of sun trapped in a glass. Be a part of our family, come along and let us listen together to the vineyards grow …
